With A Thief of Impeccable Taste, Glen Sorestad, adds to his growing stature as one of Canada’s most enduring poets. The poems of this new volume reflect those qualities for which his poetry is so well known – the carefully honed language with which he treats everyday matters, alongside the trademark generosity of spirit with which he views life. Whether he is writing about people or places, the aging body or the beauty of fresh fallen snow, a loose lock of hair or puzzled geese, he impresses upon us through his poems the importance of making time to pay attention to the world around us. Sorestad transforms the ordinary into the memorable. A Thief of Impeccable Taste is poetry for people who may not think of themselves as poetry readers.

Prairie Fire Review of Books says: “Sorestad is a master poet. Of this, there is no doubt.”

Read My Book

Author Glen Sorestad returns to Saskatoon from participating in literary events in Havana, Cuba to find his book is on best seller list.

“I was surprised to discover that A Thief of Impeccable Taste was listed as #6 on McNally Robinson’s best seller list! It’s not often that a poetry book ever gets on the list. On March 6th I read in the Saskatoon store on a Tuesday night. With all the promotion that had been done, I was expecting a huge turn-out. As bad luck would have it, all Monday night and most of Tuesday we experienced the winter’s largest dump of snow, the streets and roads were terrible, traffic was at a standstill and there was even some question of whether I should even bother to show up at the bookstore. But I did. And so did 25 or 30 other hearty souls. So it wasn’t a waste of time, we had a fine reading, my old and dear friend Paddy O’Rourke introduced me, we had a very attentive and enthusiastic audience and we even sold enough books to make it onto the bestseller list! The Bookstore people were obviously pleased.”
